Psalm 68

Read Psalm 68

Breathe in: blessed be the Lord

Breathe out: who daily bears us up (v. 19)

The Message translates this verse as … who day after day carries us.

The definition of to bear is to carry the weight of; support; endure.

Life can feel unbearable: relationships on the verge of collapse, vocations with impossible expectations, depression, diagnosis, death… the list does go on and I think we can all relate. But we can rest in the promise that when we meet the unbearable, God himself will bear us… day by day. He will save us and ultimately deliver us from death. “Our God is a God of salvation. And to God, the Lord, belong deliverance from death” (v. 20)

Psalm 68 is rich in the peoples’ celebration of God’s protection and care. He protects (5), settles, leads out (6), restores (9), gives power and strength to his people (35).

Our circumstances may not change as quickly as we might like, but God will carry us/support us/bear/endure with us today. And when we wake up tomorrow, he will do it again.
