September – December | Pre-program Assessments & Fund Raising Basics (can be done virtually)
RESIDENT | Year 1
January – February | Move to the area, begin integration into the faith family, refine project-specific job description and development plan
March - May | Choose and settle into a Gospel Community and begin pastoral responsibilities based on the job description and development plan.
June | First Program Evaluation with Lead Pastor and Associate Pastor or Elder. Evaluation will focus on the resident's personal, financial & pastoral development in relation to the plan, including how Christ City has aided, missed, and can better help the resident going forward.
June – August | Help put together and preach sermon series.
September – December | Complete and hand off the “first project” and begin recruiting individuals and families to form a new Gospel Community.
RESIDENT | Year 2
January – February | Second Program Evaluation with Lead Pastor and refinement of next project-specific job description and development plan.
March | Launch a new Gospel Community, take on shepherding responsibility for previous GC and at least one other Gospel Community.
June | Third Program Evaluation with Lead Pastor and Associate Pastor or Elder.
June – August | Lead out on putting together and preaching sermon series with weekly practices.
September – December | Complete and hand off the “second project” and begin empowering transition leadership within your Gospel Community.
RESIDENT | Year 3
January – February | Fourth Program Evaluation with Lead Pastor and confirming “exit plan” details and timeline.
March – May | Final “project” is handing off Gospel Communities to Year 2 resident(s) and providing mentorship for Year 1 resident(s), leaving plenty of time for job search/interviews or developing a church planting core team.
June | Two-part Final Program Evaluation. Part 1 is with the Lead Pastor and Associate Pastor or elder. Similar to the previous evaluations, this evaluation will focus on the resident’s personal & pastoral development and its relation to Christ City’s efforts and expectations. Part 2 will be the Residency Program Team and will focus on refining the program from Year 1- Year 3 for future residents.
July – December | Resident will be free to take a job anytime in this time frame (with the expectation to return for a “commissioning” service in December). The resident will continue pastoral/leadership participation (i.e., attending meetings, preaching, etc.), as well as a mentoring relationship with other residents. Still, the primary focus will be on placement or church planting.
