A Plea to Reflect

To enter into the kingdom of God, is to be in his presence. At least that is the picture Jesus, who has the key of David, describes for us in the letter to the faith family of Philadelphia. Written upon those whose loyal love compels them to follow Jesus is “The LORD Is There.” Right here, right now, the King of kings and LORD of lords present. This holy truth is ever amazing and yet routinely dismissed. And so, this week’s prayer, adapted from Earnest Campbell, is a confession and plea to live holy and true because The LORD Is Here.

We pray now, Father, for ourselves, Christ City Church, and your family of faith in our city;

acknowledging that our lost radiance, our much fretting, our tell-tale tensions

discredit the faith we profess and dishonor the holy truth of your ruling presence.

Renovate us, O Father, through the tireless work of your Holy Spirit, and our loyal love,

until all in us that is unworthy of the King and Kingdom may fall away,

and Jesus rule unrivaled in our hearts.

Work your will through us, O Father.

The beauty of your presence and reign reflected in our daily living.

May your Kingdom come and your will be done on earth

as it is in heaven.

All of this we pray through Jesus Chris our Lord, Savior, Friend, and King.

Amen.
