Read Psalm 100.
Recently as a faith family we have been discussing the idea of being content (Philippians 4:11-13), defined as being self-sufficient. Specifically a relational sufficiency on God, as the One who empowers us to flourish in whatever season of life. And now moving into a series on the Sermon on the Mount, the end of Matthew 6 challenges us to not be anxious but instead trust in our Father to provide for us. Psalm 100 invites us into gratitude and thankfulness of God’s faithfulness to us. After all, He is our Creator! In this knowledge of God, this space of stepping back and remembering who He is and what He has done for us, this is where contentment begins. Only from this place of gratitude to the One who gives life are we able to clearly see how He has provided for our needs and continues to provide for our future. We recognize through the ups and downs of life, God is steadfast, in Him do we find true rest and peace.
I pray, Christ City Church, for this to be your mediation this week, to remember the Lord is good, and He delights in His people. We can trust in Him to provide for our needs, and to provide us with the strength to be content. In this place of awareness and gratitude, we answer the challenge Jesus sets out to not be anxious about tomorrow. Much of our anxiety comes from not knowing what lies ahead, or feeling things around you are out of your control. But as the psalmist says “we are His” (vs 3), and Jesus reminds us how much God cares for His creation (specifically humanity). This is cause for rejoicing! Take time this week to praise God as the maker and giver of life. Sing! Dance! Be filled with joy in His presence. And share this with the people around you, for God has made us to flourish together! Praising God this week for this community.
