Even in the midst of the Psalmist’s affliction, he trusts that God is going to do all that he has planned for his people. He trusts that even after he dies, God will still be sovereign.
Let this be recorded for a generation to come,
so that a people yet to be created may praise the Lord:
that he looked down from his holy height;
from heaven the Lord looked at the earth,
to hear the groans of the prisoners,
to set free those who were doomed to die,
that they may declare in Zion the name of the Lord,
and in Jerusalem his praise,
when peoples gather together,
and kingdoms, to worship the Lord.
- Psalm 102:18-22 ESV
This part of the Psalm stands out to me because he’s not just praying about himself anymore. He’s so confident in all the Lord is going to do that he knows generations after him will continue to praise his name.
I find it really cool that we’re still reading this Psalm many generations later, and in that time, Christ came to do what he said he would. And he’ll come back again, just like he’s promised.
